I started to take my camera outdoors to catch and preserve nature’s bounty and undiscovered treasures. Initially this was solely for my own remembrance, but as others viewed my photographs, they reacted so strongly that my motivation soon shifted beyond self-interest: I saw that I could move people through a broad emotional spectrum – joy…wonder…curiosity…and, most often, serenity.
When I take photographs, I am frequently astonished at what I am viewing and inspired to capture the magnificence before me. I am attracted to light, color, shapes and textures, each illuminating elements of nature in a distinct manner. Whether a tiny flower or a bold mountain landscape, I can know instantly what I want to portray. My eyes are my viewfinder – a sure sign that I am pursuing the ideal expression of my visual gifts.
My images are minimally enhanced so that the natural beauty of the scene shines through. Viewers are gifted with a moment of pure magic where they can linger, sense and shift into their own inner stillness.
One of my photos can even be seen life size on the corporate headquarters of Saltlife in Jacksonville, Fl.
